I'm a writer, translator and editor from Belfast. My short stories have appeared in a number of publications, including Wasafiri, Short Fiction, Honest Ulsterman and the HCE Review, and I was shortlisted for the 2019 Wasafiri New Writing Prize, the 2020 Fish Short Story Prize, and the 2021 Bath Short Story Award. I'm the managing editor of Short Fiction literary journal, and have an MA in Creative Writing from Birkbeck College, University of London. 

I'm a Portuguese to English translator, and won the 2022 Peirene Stevns Translation Prize for my translation of an extract from the novel O Amor Dos Homens Avulsos (The Love of Singular Men) by Victor Heringer. My translation of the complete novel will be published by Peirene Press in 2023.

I was a Brazil-based freelance journalist from 2012 to 2017, and wrote for Rolling Stone, The Independent, Sports Illustrated, The Observer and other publications. I was the interim editor of the English language section of the Folha de São Paulo, Brazil's largest newspaper, in 2015.

I've been running The Hastings Writers Workshop since September 2021.
